Not Seeing Results Yet? Here's How to Trust the Process During a Life or Career Transition

You're making the changes. You've started a business, you’re sending out your CV, you’re working on yourself, you're manifesting your dream life, you're showing up... but the results aren't here yet.
What's happening?! Where are the clients, the clarity, the confidence, the dream job or dream career?!
This is the moment where most people get impatient or frustrated. "Is this even working? Is anything happening?!"
Let me cut to the chase. Yes! Many things are happening in the background, you're just not seeing them. This is why it's important to learn how to trust the transformation process even when you don’t see results, so you can stay grounded and enjoy that in-between phase.

Change Takes Time
One thing my clients often don't like to hear is that real, sustainable, long-term change takes time, patience, and trust.
The ego wants things to happen fast, and no wonder - you're constantly being sold the idea that you can go from x to y in 1 week or 1 month!
Understandably, that's much more alluring than having to "wait" a couple of years to see a real change. But then what happens is that people have crazy expectations toward themselves and the process of transformation. Imagine if I were frustrated at my body for not healing my bruise in 3 days! Any kind of healing and transformation process is a process and it needs time.
Lori Harder put it perfectly in a recent podcast interview I listened to. She said:
“With fitness and with health, you learn the lesson of delayed gratification. And you also learn that to see any results in the physical human body, it takes so much time to lay the foundation, and even if you’ve made a complete change to your muscular system, you don’t get to see it unless you really start dialing in all of your nutrition. I think this happens to first-time business owners all the time - they don’t realise that just the foundation of the things they need (legal, website, systems, finances…) takes about a year to two years to really get your grounding.”
This isn’t just true for business. It’s true for any transformation.
Creating Change From The Inside Out
The reason why there's a delay in seeing visible results is that the change first starts on the inside.
You're rewriting years of limiting beliefs, neural patterns, behaviors, and set points. That part of the process focuses on the inner transformation.
Only then do you begin taking aligned action in the outer world — you repeat the new patterns until they can settle and become your new default. You start making different choices. And that’s when the results become visible.
It’s like healing a physical injury: just because you can’t see the healing doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
The Timeline of Change Is Different For All Of Us And It's Not Linear
Some transformations happen quickly — you land a dream job in a month, a client signs out of the blue, a long-desired breakthrough clicks.
But other times... (I know you're not going to want to hear this, lol 😂 ) It takes months or years.
It depends on your timing, your path, and how many inner blocks are standing in your way. Sometimes it’s just one mindset shift. Other times, it’s a full reprogramming of years of self-doubt, fear, and scarcity.
That’s why I recommend longer coaching containers — minimum six months so you have time to:
Rewire limiting beliefs
Heal old wounds that get projected onto the future
Build new behavior patterns
Be held, seen, and guided through the ups and downs that are bound to happen
It's also important to have the awareness that change isn't straightforward. Rather than going from A to B, it's more like going from A to F to Z to C to B.
Expect that. Plan for that. Can you trust that there are no mistakes? Can you trust that every step, every experience is FOR you and that it's vitally important for you to take that step in order to get to where you want to be?
What Gets In The Way is The Mind
As the kids would say, the mind is minding. 😂
It's comparing, calculating, doubting, jumping into the future, projecting past pain onto your future, and reminding you that you’re not there yet.
It's the stories, thoughts, and expectations that trip most people up. Without the story, you'd be enjoying the ride.
One of my favourite questions here is (to borrow from Katie Byron):
Can you know without a shadow of a doubt that you should be further along?
Can you know with absolute certainty that you're not exactly where you're supposed to be?
In her book Outrageous Openness, Tosha Silver speaks about Divine Order and Divine Source — the idea that there's a natural Universal Abundance that knows how to meet your every need in every moment.
Can you try that on as an experiment? Can you relax in the knowing that at this moment, all your needs are met? That you're exactly where you have to be? That you have everything you need and that you'll always be guided to the next most aligned step?
3 Ways to Strengthen Your Trust in the Process
1️⃣ Develop trust in a Higher Intelligence
This is what all religions and spirituality offer: the perspective that you don't have to figure it out on your own. That there is a higher power that's looking out for you.
You don’t have to be spiritual or religious in order to develop trust in a higher intelligence. And even if it's a stretch for you, would you be willing to try it on as an experiment?
Can you open yourself up to the option that something other than you (Source, God, Universe, Higher Intelligence) knows what’s best for you and is leading you in that direction?
If you're the skeptical type (which I definitely was!), look at your past through this lens and notice patterns, synchronicities, etc.
That will give your mind some evidence that there could be something to this. ✨
2️⃣ Surrender and let go of the attachment to your desires
When the mind or the ego decides it wants something, it gets attached to the outcome, how it’s supposed to happen, when it’s supposed to happen, who it’s supposed to happen with… and then it gets disappointed and surprised when things don't go to plan.
LOL. When do things ever happen the way the mind sets it out?
Your mind thinks it knows best, but... it's limited. You only know what you know. But there are limitless options and solutions your mind hasn't even thought of because it was never exposed to them.
If you slow it down, you’ll notice that it’s really the attachment to the outcome that hurts.
A much easier way is to get to the CORE of what you want, that underlying DESIRE (safety, comfort, love, security,...), and then allowing that desire to come through any way it wants to vs the way your mind wanted it to.
Can you open yourself up for the perfect solution to come in whichever way it wants to and whichever way is in your highest good? ✨
3️⃣ Do mindset work and come back to the present moment
When you notice your mind jumping around in the past and the future, focusing on fears, doubts, etc., take a breath, come back to the moment, and do mindset work.
Is it true that nothing is happening?
Is it true that this won’t work?
This will bring you back into the present moment and into your power. You’ll feel more resourceful and at peace. You'll have more trust and because your nervous system has settled down, you'll be able to see solutions you couldn't see before.
Like Albert Einstein said: "You can't solve problems with the same level of thinking you used when you created them."
Another way of coming back to the present moment is by using affirmations that feel aligned with you. Here are a few from Tosha Silver, but you're welcome to create your own. These should feel really good, they’re almost like nourishing statements that gently stroke your soul:
“I don’t need all the answers yet. I’m on my way.”
“Right now I only need to be shown the next step, that’s enough.“
„Whatever I need, always comes, even if I don’t have a clue how it will occur.“

Final Thoughts on Trusting The Process
Trusting takes time, and if you're sceptical, the best thing to do is to track. Lead experiments and see what happens if you trust the process:
How do I feel while I’m on my way there?
What happens on my way there?
What kind of results do I achieve?
From my own experience, trusting makes the process much more enjoyable and peaceful. Isn’t it nice to know that you don’t have to know everything or have everything figured out? Life will show you, you just get to follow the breadcrumbs.
